For the red paint, the leaves and bark of two trees locally known as saman and dun are boiled together. The longer the boiling process, the darker the red color that is obtained. Many times the red paint is applied hot. This piece of Tapa cloth, 48 inches long and 27 inches wide, is made from four pieces of tapa. The red or burnt orange color is more dominate that the black.
